The Truth About Why You Need a Shopping Cart Cover

You can be sure that a shopping cart handle can have more dirt, germs, and bacteria than a public restroom would. This is one of the worst places for your child to touch and they put into their mouths. You would be surprised at how many germs can actually be on a regular shopping cart. Think about how many times you go to the store every week, well, so do thousands of others. Many University studies have been done to test exactly what kind of things are found on public use surfaces. Shopping carts ranked highest for bacteria, saliva, and even fecal matter than some of the more prominent places you would expect them to have. This is why it is so important to provide you child with a shopping cart cover to keep them safe.

Contaminated Handles

Shopping cart cover varieties give you protection and safety for your young child who may choose to teeth on the very handles where these nasty items are found. Most people have sanitary habits that are very bad and they do not even take the time to wash their hands after they use the bathroom. No shopping cart is without its share of contaminated items and this should be the best indicator that every parent should take the time to purchase a shopping cart cover for their family.

The Worst Part

The worst part of the studies completed were the findings that show the remnants of raw meat and other dangerous substances that can make us sick. This is especially true for those with a fragile immune system including babies and children. Even worse than this is the fact that most stores will openly admit they do not even clean the carts at all let alone on a regular basis. Fecal matter on the handles was also found because of those individuals who use the bathroom and then do not wash their hands afterward. The use of the shopping cart cover is one of the best preventative steps you can take to keep these and other substances away from the child.

Completely Covered

To make sure none of the germs and bacteria are spread to your child’s hands and mouth, the shopping cart cover needs to be large enough to provide protection over the entire seat and not just parts of it. Children have a way of finding the tiniest places where they want to explore and unfortunately, these places hold the most dangerous items for them to come in contact with. The safest thing to do is make sure the place where you prefer to do your shopping is made aware of these facts and they purchase a shopping cart cover that is large enough to accommodate what they have.

Protecting Others

Not only will you be protecting yourself from the germs of others when you use a shopping cart cover for your baby, you will be keeping the germs and bacteria you may have from spreading to others. Most of us do not like to envision ourselves as carriers of the same germs we are trying to avoid but we do and in all fairness, if we do not help the situation, we are no better than those who never wash their hands after using the restroom.
