So you want to learn how to play the guitar, and you want a one stop purchase to get yourself started. There are dozens of kits on the market containing various elements to help you find success on your way to becoming a guitarist. There are certain essential items that you should look for in a kit for starting on the guitar. Not all learn guitar kits are the same, and you should consider the following as you make your purchase.

Pictures:

Most beginner kits are going to include some sort of instructional book. If you re an absolute beginner, you want to make sure you ve got a learn guitar kit that contains a book that shows detailed pictures of certain things. You ll want a picture of the guitar detailing the names of each part, as well as examples of how to hold the instrument properly sitting and standing. Actual pictures of the chord shapes are also helpful for beginners, as sometimes chord charts can be confusing.

Chord Charts:

Every beginner needs a good guitar chart. A learn guitar kit should include a large chart that shows a picture of the fret board and tells the name of the chord. The bigger the chart is, the better, since it is helpful to hang it up on the wall where you practice for reference. You won t remember some of them and will need to look back periodically.

CDs:

If you don t know what something is supposed to sound like, then how will you ever produce the sound through self directed study? As a beginner, it is important that you listen to numerous examples of the songs and exercises you will encounter in at learn guitar kit. CDs will allow you to emulate a fine example, and give you direction when you start to feel lost. Some will feature an instructor s voice to help you along, and some will simply play examples of the songs. Decide whether you want to hear additional information from an instructor or if you prefer to hear concrete examples before buying a kit.

DVDs:

DVDs are perfect for visual learners. You can watch someone demonstrating the new techniques you are trying to learn, and then you can emulate what you see. The best feature is that you can always go back if you feel you ve missed something, or rewind if you want to practice something again. These are the true way to learn at your own pace without a teacher. DVDs do not come with every kit. You can also purchase them separately when you feel like you need a greater challenge or further direction.

Basic learn guitar kits will feature similar chords and techniques at the beginning. Everyone will start learning similar principles, and then apply them to the genre they most enjoy. When you choose a kit, consider what elements and features it contains, and make sure they line up with your learning style. Employing visual, audio, and printed material in a learn guitar kit will increase your chance of success!
