If you re not careful, jealousy can eat away at you. Here are some tips and tricks that will be useful in coping with jealousy.

1. Recognize your jealousy

If you don t recognize your jealous feelings then it s difficult to do anything with them. Start by noticing when you feel jealous. Then you ll be in a stronger position to deal with this emotion. Sometimes we re jealous because we re afraid. Other times it s because we re angry how dare your ex go off and still live a nice life, for example!

2. Don t be envious

OK. Probably easier said than done. But you should be striving to cut down on any envy that s creeping in and mixing with your jealous feelings. Sure you re like to have that fast car or that picture perfect partner. Instead of feeling jealous about them, do something about it! If all you re thinking about is lack, that s what you ll attract. It s the Law of Attraction in action and it s you who is pulling the things you don t want into your life. Change your focus you may need help to do this and you ll change what you attract.

3. Speak to people about your feelings

One of the worst things we do with our feelings is bottle them up. Find one of your friends or family who you can confide in. Then start confiding! Speak about your feelings often this is all you ll need to do. Once you start to vocalize your feelings, you ll start to see that they re just feelings rather than anything tangible. If you can, laugh at some of the more ridiculous ideas you re harboring. But at least talk to someone else and listen to their thoughts, even if you don t agree with what they are saying.

4. Change your beliefs

Eeek! This can be a big issue for some people. But if your beliefs about whatever or whoever it is you are jealous of are small, change them in one or two sessions. If they re bigger beliefs, chip away at their edges. You ll be surprised just how much you can do with this and will likely find that once you ve nibbled away at the corners of a belief for long enough, the rest of it will just collapse and disintegrate of its own accord.

5. Build your self esteem

Often our jealousy comes about because we re not happy in ourselves. If your self esteem is low or even non existent then it s worth working in this first. Maybe a specialist hypnosis program will help with this. Maybe it s just a simple matter of cutting down on all the negative talk. If you re always putting yourself down, chances are that you have low self esteem. Begin by catching yourself doing something right and give yourself a pat on the back. Reward yourself with praise or a long soak in the bath or whatever else works for you on these occasions. Do this often so that you gradually build up your self esteem and stop beating yourself up. Make a game of it if that makes this easier.
