As a couple is starting the planning for their wedding, the question of wedding favors will come up. Do we want to use them? If so what do we want to give and where can we get them? Like many things relating to the wedding, such questions are best answered as a couple. It would be a shame for the bride to pick out her idea of the perfect favors and have the groom completely disagree. Time should be allotted for the communal shopping for such favors to avoid such problems. If time will not allow the couple to get together to look for them, then the choice of favor should be at least passed by the other.
Such a seemingly small thing may be difficult for some grooms to think about. Normally most of the planning is done by the woman, as she has likely been dreaming about it longer than he. So getting the man to sit down and think about what he man consider a small detail as the wedding favors could be difficult for some couples. Never the less it is an important thing to get him to do just that. If he feels he is being listened to and his input is valued he may be more forthcoming. The wedding is after all about both people, so every step of that process should be decided upon by both of them.
But where to get ideas from? There are so many possibilities that it may be difficult to pick out that perfect wedding favor. One of the best ways is to look at bridal or wedding magazines. As they are devoted to the planning of weddings, there is bound to be something of value in their pages. Maybe they will have suggestions for different favors, or maybe a picture of a wedding could spawn an idea in the head of the reader. Perhaps the couple should go online and look at bridal and wedding websites. They will have more up to date suggestions and pictures.
Another great way of getting ides is to merely talk to someone who has done it all before. Maybe a friend of the couple recently got married, or attended a wedding of someone else. They may be able to tell the couple what was used at the wedding they attended. While this may not be something the couple wants to do in an exact copy, it may give them an idea for a similar favor. Also going to a wedding planner would be a great and simple way to get an idea. It is their job to set up weddings after all. It would be a shame not to tap into such a wealth of wedding knowledge.
One of the best sources of inspiration could be the guests or even the couple themselves. Those getting married could think back on their history with the family or friends coming to the wedding. Maybe there are some personal favors that can be given to each close family member. This would mean so much more to them than a simple, generic favor. This will take more work to come up with and some people may not get as much meaning out of theirs, but overall this will create a much more personal environment for the wedding. After all, this is a once in a lifetime thing.
