If you are the one hosting a baby shower, then you will get to decide exactly how the shower will go. Being the hostess does not have to be a lot of work either, and it definitely does not have to cost your a fortune.

Here are some basic things to consider when planning a baby shower:

1. Who will you invite?
2. What will your do during it?
3. How much can you spend (time and money)
4. Where will you have it?
5. When will you have it?
6. Will you have a theme?

One option is the have a pea in the pod garden party baby shower theme. Here are some creative ideas on how to decorate this popular themed party.

One idea is to gather pillar candles and use them to make a unique baby shower centerpiece. Decorate the candled with candle rings made from strings of sugar snap peas. Then for each candle, use a large needle to thread the pea pods onto a raffia strand. Then, when you reach the desired length, tie the pea pods around the base of the candle along with a decorative tag that reads, Celebrating the Pea in the Pod. .

Another great idea is to paint or embroider baby shower on cloth diapers. Or you can use colorful markers to write the words on disposable diapers. You can then hang the diapers from a ribbon clothesline. When the baby arrives, the mom to be can put the diapers to good use on the baby s bottom or use them as a burp cloth. If you want to be extra creative, you can have extra clothespins on hand to hang any baby garments that are given as gifts as well.

Another idea is to create a pea pod inspired centerpiece by incorporating the baby s birth flower into the theme as well. Whats a garden party without lots of flowers? Here are the birth flowers for each month:

January: carnations or snowdrops
February: violets or primrose
March: jonquil or violet
April: daisy or sweet pea
May: lily of the valley or hawthorn
June: rose or honeysuckle
July: larkspur or water lily
August: poppy or gladiolus
September: aster or morning glory
October: calendula or marigold
November: chrysanthemum
Decelmer: narcissus or holly

Now when you have gather your beautiful bouquet, place them in a vase made out of cleaned out watermelon.

And finally, you can cut out Anne Geddes prints of babies dressed as flowers to enhance your baby shower decor and glue the cutouts onto Popsicle sticks and stick them in flower pots all over the room to signify baby is growing everywhere. This is truly an adorable way to celebrate baby s arrival!

So here is a toast to the mommy to be, to the new baby and to you for the kindness you re showing by deciding to host a baby shower for your friend. Here s to a great time had by all and a safe delivery, and a happy life for the new little one about to join us.
