Hypnosis is a process that essentially puts someone else or yourself into a natural stage of falling asleep while actually remaining awake to influence the mind. The process of hypnosis offers the possibility to influence the mind by boring the conscious mind to stop it from thinking, as the conscious mind does not usually listen to suggestions well.

By making it stop, the brain enters the subconscious, which is much easier to convince. To do this, a series of exercises involving both the physical and mental, must be performed to stop the conscious mind. The following is a common hypnosis technique that is usually performed by professionals, though anyone can learn.

First, you must perform the first steps known as the hypnotic induction. Not all people are capable of being hypnotized easily, where some people are very easy to put into a state of subconscious. run your subject through two or more physical exercises to make him or her relax every part of the body. This can work while laying down or seated in a chair. You then offer the subject visualization exercises which trigger the subconscious mind into creative mental imagery, causing the body to relax even more while lowering the brain frequency.

The subject may experience rapid eye movement when being put into a subconscious state, which is perfectly normal during the process of hypnosis. At this point, once the subject is fully relaxed and in a state of subconscious, the hypnosis can begin. Beneficial suggestions are given to the exposed mind. After completion, the subject is awakened with a short procedure to bring him or her back into a full state of consciousness.

This process is actually more complex than inducing your subject into the subconscious. It involves guiding the subject slowly back into consciousness so he or she does not become startled by opening their eyes while still subconscious. There is no harm if the subject does open his or her eyes while in a subconscious state, though often he or she will feel confused for a moment.

While this is a very common hypnosis technique, it is not a simple process and there are many variations to the process of hypnosis. Children are often the easiest to induce into a state of subconscious because their predominant brain function is already subconscious. Some people are very receptive to hypnosis and can be hypnotized in just a few minutes while others can take up to fifteen or thirty minutes, especially those who are skeptical of the procedure.

However, once someone has been hypnotized once it is much easier to hypnotize them again. People can hypnotize themselves, though it is a lot more difficult that hypnotizing someone else. A person can make a tape recording of his or her own voice doing a hypnosis procedure and then play it back for self hypnosis.

The process of hypnosis is not always simple and usually it takes professionals to successfully complete a hypnosis technique. You can purchase some professional hypnosis programs if you wish to induce yourself into a state of subconscious. Many of these programs have been known to help people quit habits such as smoking or learn to take on new outlooks on every day life.
