Allergic reactions are reactions that develop in the body when a person inhales, touches or eats something that does not agree with his or her body constitution. Different people tend to suffer from different allergies and different causes of allergies; however most symptoms of allergic reactions are similar and inter related.
Basically, the look and feel of an allergic reaction in the body depends on the body part involved in the allergy and on the severity of the reaction. Sometimes an allergic reaction may affect a single area while other times; it may affect different areas of the body. In fact, even the reactions different people experience from the same allergen may vary from person to person.
The rapid, sudden onset of reactions and most of the times life threatening is known as anaphylaxis. This serious condition requires immediate life saving interventions.
If you may find the person anxious, sweaty or dry, confused and unconscious pale or red and can t breathe normally she/he suffers the most common serious signs of allergic behavior which is called shock.
It happened when the organs of the body did not take in sufficient blood due to low blood pressure levels. This reaction can lead to difficulty breathing and shock ultimately leading to death.
The other workable symptoms are life threatening, others are merely uncomfortable such as redness, swelling, weeping, blistering, itching, crusting or hives of the skin. There may also be difficulty breathing, wheezing, chest tightness, coughing, hoarseness, nasal congestion, sneezing, sometimes blood pressure may drop to dangerously low levels, rapid or irregular heart beat, dizziness, faintness, loss of consciousness and collapse.
Some people suffer from swelling of the face, eyelids, tongue, lips, throat or a headache while others experience pain and nausea in the stomach and vomiting, diarrhea and bloody diarrhea. It is because these symptoms of allergic reactions can progress and weaken the bodys immunity, it is always better to take some medication if the reaction gets worse in a matter of few days if there is no improvement with recommended treatment and the removal of the allergen.
If you suffer from symptoms of allergic reactions due to drugs or treatment, don t forget to mention this to the health care provider. Sometimes, you have to call the ambulance when there is sudden, rapidly worsening and severe symptoms and widespread rash. Collapse or unconsciousness, confusion, vomiting, nausea and sweating are all symptoms of allergic reactions that need immediate attention.
If you feel you may have allergy reactions to insect bites, it is better to consult your doctor for advice as the allergy gets worse with each sting. Moreover, you are more at a risk to severe allergic reactions to bee and wasp stings if you have an existing allergy to food, pollen or other substances.
It is important to call a doctor if the area surrounding the insect bite is red and inflamed and if the sting cannot be removed. Allergic reactions to insect bites are best dealt with by your doctor.
