Your body image is how you feel about your physical appearance. The relationship that you have with your body image influence your self esteem and confidence. If you hate it, you will feel bad.

How do you feel about your body image ?.The relationship that you have with your body is like any other relationship involves caring and concern. You have to create a positive body image. It doesn t mean that you will have to create a perfect image. It means that you live happily in your imperfect one. Then , your self esteem will increase.

Three steps to create a positive body image to increase self esteem

1. Appreciation for your body image. Being grateful enhance self esteem and appreciating my physical appearance helped me a lot. Sometimes we have to go through the dark to be able to see the light. Have you ever been sick and at that moment you become aware of how well you felt when you were healthy. Learn to be grateful and practice appreciation and love. We take for granted our health and well being.

2. Acceptance . By acceptance you can change what you can change and live happy with what you cannot change. The key to self esteem. By accepting your appearance you stop wishing for what you don t have. There are some parts that you don t agree with , you have accept them .Practice acceptance. Change your perception.

When I was 12 years old; some of my classmates were really tall and thin. I was at that time 5 3 inches tall like now. I always admired tall people, but I felt bad. This is an example of low self esteem. I had to learn to live with my height through acceptance. Perfection isn t the foundation of self esteem.

3. Attention to your body. I have learned that paying attention helps me a lot nurture it. By attention I mean to listen to it. Needs like hunger, fatigue, etc. I remember once that I had a toothache and because the pain wasn t bad I didn t take any action. After several days it become stronger, but, I got use to it.

Finally, one morning the pain was so unbearable that I had to go to an emergency clinic and went through my tooth extraction. Again I wasn t respecting myself and I had to suffer the consequences. By ignoring my pain I created a disconnection , I denied my needs because I was not paying attention . Pay attention.

Practice any of this tips during a week and see changes happening in your life that will increase your self esteem. Live the happy life you deserve, relax and be yourself. Need more help? Visit my recommended books and book reviews to find the help you are looking for.

We see our inner selves in terms of our outer physical appearance . We ve been taught to emphasize the package, but not the content . Change your perception and you change your life.
