Bon Jovi is a popular hard rock band from New Jersey. It was formed in 1983 and over the past 25 years, the band has sold over 140 million albums worldwide. The original lineup consisted of keyboardist David Bryan, lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, bassist Alec John Such, drummer Tico Torres and guitarist Richie Sambora. However, Alec John Such moved out of the band in 1994 and Hugh McDonald was asked to join the band. The rest of the lineup has remained same for the past 25 years.

In early 1980s, the members decided to name the group as Bon Jovi and they released their first album in 1984 which was also titled as Bon Jovi. The album was a hit in U.S. as over 500,000 copies were sold. Later on, they decided to release the album in UK and they even appeared on the popular television program American Bandstand. The band went ahead and released the second album in 1985 and the second album was titled as 7800 Fahrenheit. However, the band faced some tough time as the album received the poor response and the band was not able to leave a mark on the charts.

Later on, even Job Bon Jovi agreed that the album could have been better. The band then used the services of Desmond Child, a songwriter, for their third album and the album was a hit. It was titled as Slippery When Wet and over 26 million copies were sold worldwide. They continued the good work and released their fourth album New Jersey in 1988. The album was a commercial hit and the album became the first hard rock album to spawn five top singles.

In 1992, Keep the Faith was released which featured a number of tracks and most of them were able to hit the Top 40 in U.S. while others were released as singles internationally. Cross Road was released in 1994 which featured the hit single Always. The song was able to make it to #4 on the U.S. charts and even #1 in Asia, Australia and in countries across Europe.

The same year saw Alec John Such moving out from the band and he was then replaced by Hugh McDonald. Another album titled as These Days was released in 1995 and the album went platinum in U.S. and it even topped the UK charts. The title track and a number of other tracks gained popularity which made the album a big hit.

The band members also started working on their independent projects and some of them released their solo albums. However, the members re grouped in 1999 for their next album. Crush was released in 2000 and it was popular in the U.S. and the overseas. The Bounce was released in late 2002 and This Left Feels Right was released in 2003 and both of the albums performed well on the charts. 2005 proved to be a great year for Bon Jovi as they saw their career best first week sales of over 202,000 albums with the release of their album Have a Nice Day.

Apart from the albums, Bon Jovi has performed a number of tours and has released a number of hit singles. Bon Jovi has also won a number of awards which include Grammy Award and the UK Hall of Fame. The band continued the fantastic work and released another album Lost Highway in 2007. The album was able to make it to #1 on the charts and 292,000 copies were sold in the first week. Bon Jovi has also appeared on a number of television programs like American Idol, MTV Unplugged and on many other popular programs.
